Position Summary | This position coordinates administrative functions to include business affairs, provider matters and managing projects within the Department of Neurological Sciences, internally within campus and externally. This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating departmental/provider activities related to the implementation of the Electronic Health Record and the department’s web development and maintenance. |

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | This is a core position which requires the promotion of high values and standards of excellent care and services to all individuals interacting with the Department. This position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: 1. Planning /Organizing: This person prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, sets, goals and objectives, organizes or schedules other people and their tasks, develops realistic action plans which includes the development and maintenance of departmental systems. This person must demonstrate an ability in multi-tasking and prioritizing activities while possessing attention to detail 2. Professionalism: This person approaches others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure. Treats others with respect and consideration. Accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments. This position has significant impact on image, efficiency and function of the department and directly effects successful operations of the programs within the Department of Neurological Sciences. Critically considers implications of actions in anticipation of meeting needs/provision of customer service. 3. Communication (Oral and written): This person will communicates effectively with all levels of departmental faculty, staff, and patients, and other organizational/ company representatives whether initiated in person, telephone or by other electronic means including e-mail. Communicates clearly and informatively. Edits work and varies communication style to meet needs. Drafts and creates documents per requests. This person must have the ability to work independently keeping necessary persons well informed while maintaining confidential information. This person will utilize electronic office products such as spread sheets, word documents, data bases, and power point in daily communications. 4. Dependability/Initiative: This person must have the ability to work independently while responding to management direction. This person takes responsibility for own actions and keeps commitments. This individual needs to be a self-starter, motivated, anticipatory and resourceful. Follows through on a timely basis with work initiatives and communicates accordingly. 5. Customer Service: This person responds promptly to customer needs. This person has direct contact with various political, medical and business and academic leaders as a result of the Faculty’s responsibility and activities. This person responds to requests for service and assistance. 6. Project Management: This person will contribute to departmental program development and operational processes through decision making in conjunction with the Faculty, supervisor and the Administrator. This person will develop, coordinate, and communicate project plans following established time frames and budgets. 7. Team work: This person will balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit. This person will coordinate work with other office staff and may provide work direction for project completion to other office staff. |
