Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Senior Specialty Pharmacy Technician in our Specialty Pharmacy Program. The Specialty Pharmacy Program is based out of our Durham Outpatient Center on Main campus and Central Fill Hub location in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Specialty Pharmacy Program is designed to streamline patient care for a group of complex medication therapies that require very specific monitoring and follow up. The Nebraska Medicine specialty pharmacy program is a partnership with Nebraska Medicine Specialty Providers and the outpatient specialty pharmacy team. The collaborative effort is designed to eliminate barriers to specialty medication access and provide optimal pharmacy services focused on quality and safety. The Specialty Pharmacy at Nebraska Medicine was the first URAC accredited specialty pharmacy in the state of Nebraska and one of the first academic medical centers nationally.

Duties: Senior Specialty Technician
Support and assist in the development of specialty pharmacy technician workflows and specialty pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Assist specialty pharmacist with preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications for Specialty Pharmacy patients while supporting and leading efforts to ensure necessary documentation and reporting requirements are met to maintain URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation and access to a network of limited distribution drugs.
Required Qualifications: Senior Specialty Technician
* Pharmacy Technician experience in the Nebraska Medicine Outpatient Pharmacy Department required.
* High school education or equivalent required.
* Understanding of 340B regulations and impact on pharmacy operations required.
* Understanding of specialty inventory and supply procurement to support day to day operations required.
* Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation required.
* Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Zoom, Teams) or comparable program required.
* Ability to provide training, support, and mentorship to other specialty team members required.
* Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand held calculator required.
* Exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail and effective problem solving skills required.
* Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required. Pharmacy Technician Certification within twelve months of licensed date required.
Preferred Qualifications: Senior Specialty Technician
* Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment, and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred.
* Associates degree in business, healthcare or related field preferred.
* Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous drug compounding preferred.
