The Department of Paramedicine at Creighton University invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track Paramedicine Clinical Instructor position, to commence on an agreed upon date.   

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to coordinate and lead multiple projects and processes in support of educational efforts; and the ability to make decisions in the best interest of patient care, student safety and success, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities include ensuring a team approach in the delivery of the Universityâ??s Satellite paramedic education program at the Omaha Fire Department Training Center.  This involves classroom and lab instruction, learning assessment, and quality assurance of the program and its delivery. Teaching load will consist of paramedic instruction, EMT instruction, advising students.  Faculty will also be involved in developing EMS innovations and teaching continuing education for the Omaha Fire Department.  Faculty member may be involved in other Paramedicine courses and programs, as may be necessary, including graduate level education. Active involvement in ongoing policy development, curriculum development, program assessment, student recruitment, and strategic planning processes is also expected.

The department seeks a balanced teacher-scholar with a commitment to excellent teaching as well as scholarship through research, publication, and active participation with professional organizations. The candidate will also provide academic advising for students, as well as service to the School, University, and community. Frequent use of computer and medical technology is essential for this fulltime, exempt status position.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have an earned masterâ??s or bachelorâ??s degree and willingness to pursue completion of a masterâ??s degree (doctoral degree preferred), with a minimum of 5 years of patient care experience in an emergency or critical care environment, preferably including field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care, and a minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an educator of health or medical related content.

Candidates must possess or be eligible for licensure as a paramedic and EMS Instructor designation in the State of Nebraska. Current provider and instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, with PALS, PEPP, AMLS, ITLS, and PHTLS preferred.
