Position Summary Under general supervision, and in coordination with the Manager, Payroll, the Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of District payrolls. This position involves analyzing payroll data, resolving discrepancies, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. The Payroll Analyst will contribute to process improvements and support the Manager, Payroll in various projects.


Education

  • Required - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.

Minimum Requirements

  • Required - Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience with a strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Required - Experience processing payroll in an enterprise software environment (e.g., SAP, Workday, UKG, ADP).

Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing

  • Required - Have and maintain a valid driver’s license Upon Hire
  • Required - Pre-employment Background Check & Drug Screen Upon Hire

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to understand and interpret payroll rules and regulations, including the complexities associated with a Union labor contract.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP).
  • Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
  • Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.

Essential Functions

  • Process all District payrolls in a timely manner ensuring accuracy, to include transmittal of electronic files for direct deposit and deferred compensation.
  • Review and verify time and attendance data, including overtime, leave, and other adjustments.
  • Provide support and work guidance to the timekeepers throughout the District.
  • Manage the processing of special payroll runs to record taxable gift cards.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with the implementation and testing of new payroll systems or upgrades to existing systems. This would include District wide projects as well as current system version upgrades and/or enhancements. Current systems include SAP, SuccessFactors, and Workforce.
  • Update and/or create process documentation for the Payroll Department.
  • Provide support to the Human Resources Department related to payroll and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Cross-train on the tasks of the Lead Payroll Clerk to function as back-up in the event of absences/vacations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end W-2 forms.
  • Assist with federal grant reporting requirements.
  • Fill in for the Manager, Payroll as needed.
  • Fulfill responsibilities common to all Supervisory, Professional, and Administrative position as stated.
