Path to Power Intern – St Paul, MN

 
Pay: The anticipated salary range for this position is $17.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant work experience, the skills required for the role, internal equity, market competitiveness, and budget considerations. Schedule: Part-time, 15 hours per week, 10 weeks beginning June 9th, 2025.
Shift times: Varies on weekly basis. In-person position with flexibility to do some work remotely. Occasional weekend and evening hours. In-person office shifts predominantly on Tue/Wed for trainings and workshops. In-person attendance required for organizing and community events happening throughout the summer.

Travel: Ability to travel to Vandalia health center to attend any necessary trainings or skills workshop. Ability to travel throughout the metro-area to attend community events.

Job Summary:
As a Path to Power intern with Planned Parenthood North Central States and Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund you will learn the nuts and bolts of advocacy and organizing. The Path to Power intern will work with fellow interns and staff to build power across Minnesota through grassroots organizing and advocacy. Over the summer, this intern will gain hands-on experience with multi-issue, cross movement strategies, learning from experienced organizers while supporting events, recruiting volunteers, and completing independent projects. By the end of the internship, the Path to Power intern will understand grassroots organizing fundamentals, be proficient in voter contact tactics, and apply a reproductive justice lens to their work. This is a great opportunity for aspiring organizers, activists, and those wanting to get their foot in the door with advocacy, reproductive rights, or issue organizing. Path to Power interns are advocates in implementing our mission of “Advancing and protecting sexual and reproductive healthcare for all”. They may perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • This internship is for college students in any year and rising high school juniors and seniors. College credit available per your institution’s guidelines.
  • Applicants should have an interest in reproductive health and rights advocacy and a commitment to grassroots organizing.
     
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Attend theory and skills training related but not limited to grassroots organizing, direct voter contact, base building, reproductive justice, and more.
  • Staff office shifts, which may include data entry, volunteer management, and event support.
  • Participate and eventually lead events such as phonebanks, text banks, canvassing, and tabling.
  • Recruit, engage and retain volunteers virtually and through community outreach events
  • Learn and use the Voter Action Network (VAN) to track and report data
  • Meet base building, outreach and volunteer engagement goals
  • Attend a minimum of 1 action event per week.
